This event is part of the XVII FESTAMBO, an annual artistic festival promoted by the Academia de Música Banda de Ourém, which in the 2023 edition will take place from May 7th to June 10th, mainly focused on music, but also including theater, dance, painting, and poetry.

The piece “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Modest Mussorgsky was initially inspired by the composer’s visit to an art exhibition by Viktor Hartmann. Recently, the English composer and conductor Malcolm Binney wrote a new version for wind orchestra, based on Mussorgsky’s original piano piece. The rich sound palette of the music deserves a more contemporary look.
